Wall in the shades of greyness
Concrete wall structure is recently one of the most fashionable trends in the interior design. Concrete top finish, even applied on a small part of a room, can add a modern style to the whole interior.
The concrete effect is available in the shade of cold grey, which perfectly matches metal, glass and raw timber. An uneven structure results from the application method and depends on the arrangement of aggregate within the structure and presence of the natural pigments. They also decide about the point discolouration of the coat. The visual effect is strengthened by the change of the light reflection angle on uneven surface. With our Fox Dekorator product we can create the concrete effect in four different options, depending on the desired final structure and colour. The main difference lays in the method of the product application.
While using concrete plastering mass or concrete paint, it is possible to create matt surface with many visible irregular cavities (effect of corroded concrete) or smooth, satin surface (vibrated concrete effect). Concrete Paint is available in limited number of colours of warm grey shade. Another option is to use typical lime travertine which can be coloured according to the NCS colour scheme. In case of the concrete effect, the most appropriate colour is greyness in neutral, cold or warm shade. Colour saturation can be adjusted – from very light burnt to strong and dark.
The newest product of Fox Dekorator brand is the structural paint Decorative Concrete. It is a ready-to-use thick-coat mineral lime paint with addition of inorganic pigments.
Application step by step:

Step 1. Apply Decorative Concrete with a roller on a primed surface of limited size (1 m2). |

Step 2. Smoothen the wet decoration with a trowel, keep the coat thickness same as the aggregate grain size. Make sure to do it until the coat keeps adjustable and before it gets dry. |

Step 3. Stick the tape onto a dry surface. |

Step 4. Before application of the second coat, slightly moisten the whole decorated surface with water. The second coat should be applied upon the whole decorated surface similarly to the first one. While drying the paint should be smoothened with a trowel – the mass pores are getting sealed and the surface is getting smooth. Any small cavities add an unique appearance to the surface.

Step 5. Remove the tape while the surface is still wet.

Step 6. Decorative Varnish Satin should be applied with a soft brush or a roller of microfibre. Distribute gently with crossing moves. Even a single coat reinforces the decorated surface. |
It is recommended to cover Decorative Concrete with a single coat of a varnish which reinforces the decorated surface. Depending on the place of application and the choice of the effect type (e.g. porous final surface), use of more than one layer and an appropriate technique of application may be necessary. Decorative Concrete is properly coated with varnish when the wall is getting darker uniformly, without any darker areas. Applied varnish has almost no impact on the concrete surface colour but, depending on the formed effect structure, it may slightly change its gloss. Before the varnish application upon the whole surface, it is recommended to make a small sample in order to check and confirm the effect.
