GYPSUM ADHESIVE FOR FIXING PLASTERBOARDS

FOR INTERNAL USE

USE
GIPSAR MOCAR T is a gypsum adhesive for plasterboardS, composite plasterboard panels for sound/thermal insulation, cornices and other commercial gypsum products. GIPSAR MOCAR T is also suitable for adhesive bonding of gypsum prefabricated units. It can be used on the following substrates: cement, gypsum and cement-lime plasters, concrete walls, and rough walls made of structural clay tiles or bricks, lime-sand bricks, cellular concrete or gypsum units. It is suitable only for indoor use. It is not recommended to use the gypsum adhesive on ceilings.
PROPERTIES
GIPSAR MOCAR T is a mixture of high purity gypsum, mineral fillers and latest generation modifying agents that make the adhesive plastic and easy to use.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
GIPSAR MOCAR T can be used on stable and structurally sound substrates not directly exposed to moisture. The substrate should be strong and free from anything that may weaken adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, lime, oil, fat, wax and the remainder of paint. Remove poorly adhering pieces of the substrate by hammering off, whereas loose or flaking elements – using a steel brush. If necessary, use ATLAS UNI-GRUNT priming emulsion to reduce substrate’s excessive absorptivity. Provide anticorrosion protection to all steel elements that may contact with the adhesive.
ADHESIVE PREPARATION
In order to prepare the adhesive, gradually pour the mix into a container with suitable amount of water (0.6 l water for 1 kg of dry mix) and mix vigorously manually or mechanically until homogenous. It maintains its properties for ca. 45 minutes.
APPLICATION
There are several methods for adhesion bonding of plasterboards on walls (depending on substrate evenness). The basic method consists of application of GIPSAR MOCAR T on a panel placed horizontally at the wall. The adhesive should be applied on the panel in a form of patches, distributed evenly in the distance of 30 – 40 cm (vertically and horizontally). Patches should be ca. 10 cm in diameters and ca. 2 cm in thickness. Place several spread patches along panel edges to eliminate the risk of panel bending under their weight in seams. After applying the adhesive, put the panel vertically (two people) and press against the wall. It is recommended to fix two or three panels successively and, at the same time, adjust their location using a long rule and rubber hammer. Fix and adjust panel location within 10÷15 minutes after adhesive application (depending on temperature and absorptivity of the substrate). To ensure appropriate air circulation between the panel and the wall that enables for correct adhesive setting, leave a 10 mm gap between the panel and the floor, and a 5 mm gap between the panel and the ceiling. Panels should not directly adjoin to one another; leave 2 mm gaps between them. In case of larger local irregularities of the substrate, apply the patches directly on the wall. This enables to ensure variable patch thickness and adjustment of local irregularities of the substrate. This method is also used if the room size prevents application of the basic method. If wall irregularities are significant (exceeding 2 cm), level the substrate by initial fixing 10 cm wide panel strips.
They will serve as a frame with 60 cm “column” distance and horizontal “bars” fixed at the level of the upper and lower edge of the panel that will be fixed later. This frame should form an even vertical plane. When the gypsum adhesive sets under the strips, begin fixing of the proper panel layer. When fixing panels, it is also possible to distribute the adhesive on the whole panel surface using a notched float (8 mm notches). Fix and adjust panel location within 10÷15 minutes after adhesive application (depending on temperature and absorptivity of the substrate). Use GIPSAR MAX for pointing seams of adhered plasterboard panels.
The information comprises basic instructions of product application and do not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations.
CONSUMPTION
On average, 1.5÷5 kg of GIPSAR MOCAR T is sufficient for 1 m2 of a plasterboard panel. The coverage depends on the assumed method of fixing and on substrate evenness.
TOOLS
Drill with mixer, non-corrosive floats and trowels, long rule (2.5 m), rubber hammer, level. Wash the tools with clean water directly after use.
