ENHANCED MINERAL RENDER
OF SPOTTED TEXTURE FOR PAINTING, FOR MANUAL APPLICATION
FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE
AGGREGATE THICKNESS: up to 1.5 mm - SN-MAL 15; up to 2.5 mm - SN-MAL 25
| ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL is an enhanced mineral plastering mix designed for manual preparation of internal and external thin-layer renders that require painting. It can be used on all even and structurally sound mineral substrates such as concrete, traditional cement plasters, cement plasters, plasterboard panels and reinforced layers in the following composite wall thermal insulation systems: ATLAS, ATLAS STOPTER K-10, ATLAS STOPTER, ATLAS HOTER and ATLAS ROKER W-20. |
 |
| ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL is based on white cement, lime, and quarts and marble aggregate with grain size up to 1.5 mm -SN-MAL 15 and up to 2.5 mm -SN-MAL 25. It also contains special additives that make it plastic, convenient to use and characterised by good adhesion to the substrate. It is hard-wearing owing to the content of special micro-fibres additionally strengthens render structure. To obtain appropriate resistance of ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL to weather, cover it with façade paint. Appropriate façade colour can be determined using the NEW ATLAS COLOUR PALETTE. |
 |
| The substrate should be stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, lime, oil, fat, wax, remains of emulsion and oil paint. Remove existing paint and render coats of insufficient adhesion. Before work commencement, prime the substrate using ATLAS UNI-GRUNT. Fill in irregularities and defects using e.g. ATLAS LEVELLING MORTAR, ATLAS PLASTERING MIX or ATLAS REKORD finishing mortar. Before rendering, regardless of substrate type, provide a prime coat made of ATLAS CERPLAST priming mass. |
 |
| In order to prepare ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL, pour the whole content of the bag into a container with measured amount of water (4.50÷5.50 l for 25 kg bag) and mix mechanically until homogenous. The mortar is ready to use after ca. 10 minutes and remixing; during this time, it is possible to adjust its consistency appropriately to application conditions. It maintains its properties for ca. 1.5 hours. Mix the mortar during work in order to maintain homogenous consistency. |
 |
| Apply ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL over prepared and primed substrate as a layer using a float made of stainless steel. Thickness of the layer should correspond with the aggregate grain size. Remove excess of material, place it in the bucket and mix. Form the texture of the surface with circular moves using a float made of plastic. Open time (between mass application and floating) depends on substrate absorptivity, ambient temperature and mortar consistency. Experimentally (for a given type of substrate and given weather) determine the maximum area that can be prepared in one technological cycle (application and floating). Apply the mix using the “wet on wet” method, preventing one batch from drying before application of another one. Otherwise the "seams” will be visible. Plan technological gaps in advance e.g. in corners or building angles, under rainwater pipes, etc. Protect the plastered surface during work and when it dries from direct sunlight, wind and precipitation. Drying time depends on the substrate, temperature and relative humidity of air and is from ca. 12 to 48 hours. Substrate and ambient temperature during work and when render dries should be from +5°C to +25°C. Paint the plastered surface using façade paints (e.g. ATLAS ARKOL S, ATLAS ARKOL N, ATLAS CERTON and ATLAS ARKOL E). Painting can commence 2÷6 weeks after plastering is completed (depending on paint type and colour). Only in case of ATLAS ARKOL S silicate paint, it can begin after the render dries, not earlier, however, than after 48 hours. Note: The information comprises basic instructions of product application and do not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations. |

On average,
ca. 2.5 kg of ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL 15 is sufficient for 1 m2
ca. 3.5÷4.0 kg of ATLAS CERMIT SN-MAL 25 is sufficient for 1 m2
The exact amount of mix used can be determined in a test conducted on the plastered substrate. |
 |
| Drill with mixer, float made of steel and smooth float made of plastic. Wash the tools with clean water directly after use. Clean the remainder of the set mortar that is difficult to remove with ATLAS SZOP. |
