USE

ATLAS ARKOL NX is a silicone priming agent for substrates under silicone paint, in particular for ATLAS ARKOL N. It can be applied on cement and cement-and-lime substrates, concrete, gypsum, and bricks, and thin-layer mineral and acrylic plasters as well as cement-asbestos panels. It is also used for priming rough surfaces made of concrete, bricks, blocks, hollow bricks and other similar ceramic or lime-sand materials before painting. ATLAS ARKOL NS is suitable for listed buildings. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

PROPERTIES

ATLAS ARKOL NX is based on specially selected silicone dispersion. It evens substrate absorptivity and increases adhesion of ATLAS ARKOL N silicone paint. Owing to the micro-pore structure, it ensures free transport of water vapour through the material on which it is applied. It is transparent when dry. ATLAS ARKOL NX is characterised by hydrophobic properties. It is a non-flammable and may be used in rooms without windows.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The substrate should be dry, stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, fat and wax. Carefully remove old paint coatings and other layers of low adhesion to the substrate. Repair and fill small defects (e.g. cracks and cavities).

PRODUCT PREPARATION

ATLAS ARKOL NX is ready-to-use. It may not be diluted or combined with other materials.

APPLICATION

Apply ATLAS ARKOL NX as a thin even layer using a roller or paintbrush. On particularly absorptive substrate, prime again crosswise to the first layer. Apply the second layer min. 4 hours after the first priming. The drying time of ATLAS ARKOL NX depends on the substrate, temperature and relative humidity of air, and is ca. 30 minutes. Prime substrates under silicone paint min. 4 hours earlier. The information comprises basic instructions of product application and do not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations.

CONSUMPTION

On average, 0.05÷0.2 kg of the agent is used for 1 m2. In practice consumption depends how absorptive the substrate is. Determine the precise consumption in a trial.

STORAGE & TRANSPORT

Store and transport in original tightly closed containers in temperature above +5°C. Avoid overheating. Shelf life is 12 months from the production date on the packaging.

CAUTION

ATLAS ARKOL NX priming paint: maximum VOC content in the product: 19.93 g/l; maximum allowable VOC content: 50 g/l. Keep out of the reach of children. In case of direct contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
