SILICATE PAINT, VAPOUR PERMEABLE, STRONG COAT, DIRT RESISTANT
FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE
| ATLAS ARKOL S is a silicate paint designed for mineral such substrate as cement and cement-lime plasters, and thin-layer mineral plasters. It is also used for painting rough surfaces made of concrete, bricks, blocks, hollow bricks and other similar ceramic or lime-sand materials. Thin-layer mineral renders such as ATLAS CERMIT SN, DR and SN-MAL can be covered with ATLAS ARKOL S silicate paint on the third day after their application Other substrate can be painted when dry e.g. plaster made of ATLAS PLASTERING MIX on the fourth day after its application. It ensures rich colour range of façades and short technological cycle. ATLAS ARKOL S is also suitable for renovation painting of surfaces previously covered with silicate paint. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use (walls and ceilings). |
| ATLAS ARKOL E is a silicate paint of the latest generation based on potassium water glass with the addition of high-quality fillers and chemical agents. ATLAS ARKOL S reacts chemically with the substrate in the silification process, penetrating its structure. It results in a smooth finish without wrinkles or fractures, resistant to dirt. It is vapour permeable, ensuring free transport of water vapour and giving up humidity through the material on which the paint is applied The content of hydrophobic additives protects the painted substrate from humidity permeating from the outside. It has good covering properties and perfectly delivers the texture of painted surfaces. The paint is resistant to direct weather, precipitation and all types of aggressive components contained in the substrate and in natural environment ATLAS ARKOL S is available in 392 colours shown in the NEW ATLAS COLOUR PALETTE. |
| The substrate should be dry, stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, fat and wax. Carefully remove old paint coatings of poor quality and other layers of low adhesion to the substrate as well as coats made of dispersion paint. Repair and fill small defects (e.g. cracks and cavities). To strengthen and even substrate absorptivity, prime it using ATLAS ARKOL SX. Plaster coatings can be painted when dry, not earlier, however, than: - for ATLAS CERMIT SN, DR and SN-MAL mineral renders: after 48 weeks; for ATLAS PLASTERING MIX: after 72 weeks. |
| ATLAS ARKOL S is ready to use. Having opened a bucket, mix its contents until homogenous. The paint can be diluted, in particular in case of work on substrate or ambient temperature approaching the maximum allowable temperature (+25°C). To dilute the paint, use ATLAS ARKOL SX in the amount of max. 7% (in the voluminal ratio). Add max 0.7 of the preparation for a 10 l container. Maintain the ratio used for the whole painted surface. Use undiluted paint for the final coat. |
Apply thin and even layer of ATLAS ARKOL S on prepared and primed substrate. Use a roller or brush, or paint by spraying. Apply one or two layers depending on substrate absorptivity and structure. Plan technological gaps in advance e.g. in corners or building angles, under rainwater pipes, etc. Apply paint continuously (with the “wet on wet” method) on the planned surface, avoiding any breaks in work and preventing coat application on partially dried paint. Protect the painted surface during work and when it dries from direct sunlight, wind and precipitation. The drying time depends on the substrate, temperature and relative humidity of air and is from ca. 2 to 6 hours. Note: to avoid differences in colour shades in case of colour paints, apply paint of the same production date on one surface. Applied paint slightly smoothes substrate texture in a natural manner. In case of painting surfaces differing in respect of texture and technical parameters, different colour shades of the same paint may result. Before painting, carefully protect all nearby elements e.g. glass, joinery, flashing, etc. as when the silicate paint dries, it cannot be removed without the risk of substrate damage.
The information comprises basic instructions of product application and do not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations. |

In case of one layer, on smooth surface, on average 1 l of paint is sufficient for ca. 5 m2.
Determine the precise consumption in a trial, in particular in case of diluted paint.
For the plaster coating, consumption is as follows:
- for mineral renders ATLAS CERMIT SN, DR and SN-MAL ca. 1 l paint for 3.5÷4.5 m2
- for ATLAS PLASTERING MIX - ca. 1 l paint for 5.0 m2 |
| Roller, paintbrush or spay unit. Wash the tools with clean water directly after use, before the paint dries. |
Plaster buckets: 10 l
Pallet: 330 l in 10 l buckets |
| Store and transport in tightly closed buckets in dry conditions, ensuring positive temperature (pallets are particularly recommended). Avoid overheating. Shelf life is 12 months from the production date on the packaging. |
| ATLAS ARKOL S paint for external walls: maximum VOC content in the product: 22.29 g/l; maximum allowable VOC content: 75 g/l. Contains water glass. May be aggressive to metal, glass and wood. Protect eyes and skin. In case of direct contact with eyes, seek medical attention. Keep out of the reach of children. |
