ADHESIVE FOR GRES-STONEWARE TILES
RECOMMENDED FOR TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
BED THICKNESS: 2 ÷ 5 mm
FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE
| The adhesive is recommended for tiling of wall and floor stoneware tiles. It is also suitable for fixing other ceramic tiles as well as cement, concrete and stone ones ( in fear of discolouring the tiles in contact with grey cement, use ATLAS WHITE PROGRES STANDARD adhesive). |
 |
High adherence to gres-stoneware tiles.
Suitable for traditional substrates. The adhesive is recommended for tiling on typical substrates, i.e. cement and anhydrite floors, concrete screeds, cement and lime-and cement or gypsum plasters. It can be used as well on rough wall of bricks, blocks, hollow bricks and other similar ceramic or lime-sand and aerated concrete;
Contractor friendly. The product is convenient to prepare and easy to use. The tiles fixing with the use of adhesive is possible from the top of wall which additionally shortens workmanship and improves tiling effect (it is no need to cut the tiles by the ceiling). Prolonged open time, up to 30 min., enables the contractor tiling on larger surface and adjusting or finishing the tiles.
Economical use. On average it is used 1.5 kg of adhesive per 1 m² with 1mm bed thickness. The consumption depends on evenness of substrate and the type of tiles used. |
 |
| The substrate should be dry, stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken mortar adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, lime, oil, grease, wax, remains of emulsion and oil paint. It is recommended that any irregularities of substrate`s surface that prevent application of the appropriate layer thickness (2÷5 mm) should be adjusted with ATLAS LEVELLING MORTAR, ATLAS PLASTERING MIX, ATLAS TEN-10 mortar, ATLAS TERPLAN N or R, ATLAS SAM 55, etc. If necessary, use ATLAS UNI-GRUNT or ATLAS UNI-GRUNT PLUS priming emulsions to reduce substrate`s excessive absorption. In case of applying the adhesive to OSB, wood-based boards or other unstable substrates of bearing capacity that can hardly be determined (e.g. dusty, difficult to clean) apply ATLAS CERPLAST primer; it is recommended to make an adhesion test, i.e. to adhere a tile and check the bonding after 48 hours. If bonding is weak it means that substrate should be improved. Start to tile when the primer is dried (in case of ATLAS UNI-GRUNT primer- after ca. 2 hours). The ambient and substrate temperature during work shall be between +5 °C and +25 °C. |
 |
| ATLAS PROGRES STANDARD is ready-to-use dry mix of top-quality cement binder, aggregates and modifying agents. In order to prepare the adhesive, pour dry adhesive into a container with suitable amount of water (in proportion: 5.25÷6.0 l of water for 25 kg of dry mortar- ca. 0.21 ÷ 0.24 l for 1 kg) and mix until homogenous. It is best to mix it mechanically, using a drill with a mixer. The adhesive is ready to use after 5 minutes and after remixing. It maintains its properties for ca. 4 hours (pot life). Prepare the adhesive in temperature of +5 - +25 °C. |
 |
Apply the adhesive to the prepared, primed substrate with a trowel or a smooth float made of steel and then distribute it evenly and shape it (possibly in one direction) using a notched trowel. Do not lay the adhesive over excessively large surface because it maintains its adhesive properties for 30 minutes-open time (depending on the substrate). In order to check if it is still possible to fix tiles, you should make a test, i.e. press the adhesive with your fingers. If the adhesive has remained on the fingers, you may fix tiles. If the fingers are clean, remove the old layer of the adhesive and apply a new one.
After having spread the adhesive place the tile and press it towards the substrate. Apply such an amount of the adhesive that when a tile is pressed down, its contact surface with the adhesive is even and as large as possible (min. 2/3 of tile surface). Tile position may be adjusted within 10 minutes afterwards. Remove excess of the adhesive in joints when tiles are pressed towards the surface – it will make grouting easier. The floor can be accessed or grouted no earlier than 24 hours after the tiles have been fixed; the adhesive achieves its full functional strength after 3 days.

On average it is used 1.5 kg of adhesive per 1 m² with 1mm bed thickness. The consumption depends on evenness of substrate and the type of tiles used.
Approximate consumption of adhesive for selected types of tiles
| Type of tile | Trowel`s notch size [mm] | Thickness of adhesive layer [mm] | Average consumption [kg/m2] |
| Small tiles (up to 10x10 cm) of smooth or slightly profiled bottom surface | 4.0 mm | ca. 2.0÷3.0 mm | 2.1÷4.5 |
| Medium tiles ( up to 25x25 cm) of slightly profiled bottom surface | 6.0÷8.0 mm | ca. 2.5÷4.0 mm | 2.65÷6.0 |
| Large tiles (above 30x30 cm) of medium profiled bottom surface | 8.0÷10.0 mm | ca. 3.5÷5.0 mm | 3.7÷7.5 |

| The set of tolls: a container for mixing, a drill with a mixer, smooth and notched float made of steel, tile cutter, pencil, measure tape, tiles spacers. Wash the tools with clean water directly after use. Clean the remainder of the set mortar, that is difficult to remove, with ATLAS SZOP. |
