SILICATE PAINT PRIMER FOR SUBSTRATES UNDER SILICATE PAINT
FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE
| ATLAS ARKOL SX is a silicate priming agent for substrates under silicate paint e.g. ATLAS ARKOL S or under mortars used for repair of surfaces finished with silicate paint or render e.g. ATLAS SILKAT. It is used for priming all mineral substrates such as cement plaster, cement-lime plaster, mineral plaster, concrete, and rough surfaces made of bricks, blocks, hollow bricks and other similar ceramic or lime-sand materials. It can also be used for diluting ATLAS ARKOL S silicate paint used for prime coatings. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. |
| ATLAS ARKOL SX is based on potassium water glass. It strengthens and evens substrate absorptivity and increases adhesion of ATLAS ARKOL S silicate paint. It is transparent when dry. ATLAS ARKOL SX is characterised by hydrophobic properties. It is a non-flammable and may be used in rooms without windows. |
| The substrate should be dry, stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, fat and wax. Carefully remove old paint coatings, other layers of low adhesion to the substrate as well as coats made of dispersion paint. Repair and fill small defects (e.g. cracks and cavities). |
| ATLAS ARKOL SX is ready-to-use. It may not be diluted or combined with other materials. |
Apply ATLAS ARKOL SX as a thin even layer using a roller or paintbrush. On particularly absorptive substrate, prime again crosswise to the first layer. Apply the second layer min. 4 hours after the first priming. The drying time of ATLAS ARKOL SX depends on the substrate, temperature and relative humidity of air, and is ca. 30 minutes. Prime substrates under silicate paint min. 4 hours earlier. Dilute the silicate paint adding max. 7% of ATLAS ARKOL SX in the voluminal ratio. Add max 0.7 of the preparation for a 10 l container. Before priming, carefully protect all nearby elements e.g. glass, joinery, flashing, etc. as when the silicate agent dries, it cannot be removed without the risk of substrate damage.
The information comprises basic instructions of product application and do not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations. |
| On average, 0.2 kg of the agent is used for 1 m2. In practice consumption depends how absorptive the substrate is. |
| Roller or paintbrush Wash the tools with clean water directly after use. |
